This is raw!

by Dr. Drew 19. August 2009 16:09

THIS:

This aint no salad bar, sushi roll, or medium rare grill.  This is living food.  Living food with flavor, satisfaction and highly absorbable nutrients.  This is raw.

Decadent.  Sweet.  Creamy.  Robust.  Savory.  Yum.

Most of us think of pink burgers and salads when we hear the words “raw” and “food” come together.  Not anything like what is pictured above (Chocolate Torte Balls, Asian Vegetable Nori Rolls, Pizza Italiano, and Hearty Lentil Chili). Raw foods give your body the maximum amount of nutrition possible, because the nutrients that are heat sensitive have not been destroyed in the cooking process.  Ingredients such as nuts, seeds, and fruits are still “alive” and able to nourish your body in so many more ways.

Delicious.  Life Extending.  Health Giving.

This is Raw.

Join Dr. Drew and Chef Julie Fedderly of The Raw Deal

in Menomonie on Monday, August 24th.

She’ll have the samples, we’ll have the recipes.

YOU WILL GET THE BENEFITS.

So why is  this sooooooo exciting? Why we are we creating this opportunity for you?  Because…

  1. Most of the ingredients to make this stuff aren’t weird or expensive.  A lot of it you already have.
  2. It tastes even better eating it when you know what it is actually doing for you.  Unlike filling up on nutrient-empty snacks and meals that leave you feeling gassy and lazy ten minutes later.
  3. Because of the ingredients, it is easily portable.  Great for those of you who like to pack a lunch to bring to work, the park, or school.
  4. Many of the recipes are very quick*.  Depending on the tools you have in the kitchen, preparing a raw food meal consists only of the prepping, not the cooking!  Huge time saver for those parents out there who are in a bind for providing quick healthy meals for the family.  *some components of a meal may be partially or fully dehydrated, so obviously that takes advanced planning.  But still easy!
  5. Its simple.  Did I say that it’s simple?  You’ll only need to acquaint yourself with a few new things like Agave Nectar, Nori and a spiralizer.
  6. Hey!  Guess What!?!  Raw foods gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan!  This eliminates so much guess work about what the ingredients are.  Who was at movie night?  Who remembers the take home message that FoodMatters was sending?  More what?  Which leads me to #7…
  7. I’ll cut to the chase.  I don’t think anyone will argue this: The more fresh, organic, whole, raw, nutrient packed foods you eat, the less chance you’ll have of developing one or all of our nation’s killers: heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Need I say more?  See you on Monday Night.  6:30 Sharp. Get ready to taste some real good raw!!!!  The sign up is on the front desk.  And oh!  I almost forgot!  I would highly suggest bringing a coworker, friend or relative.  Not only because they should reap the benefit too, but because it is going to save you so much time explaining this whole new way of eating that you’ll be demonstrating on a regular basis.   They’ll get to hear it for themselves!  Take this newsletter with you to show them if you want!   Plus you’ll want some new ideas for those back-to-school potlucks…..

NOT this.

Movie Night With Dr. Drew

by paul 21. July 2009 15:21

Monday July 27th at 6:37pm SHARP

"Let thy Food be thy Medicine and thy Medicine be thy Food" - Hippocrates. That is the message from the founding father of modern medicine echoed in the controversial new documentary film Food Matters from Producer-Directors James Food MattersColquhoun and Laurentine ten Bosch.

With nutritionally-depleted foods, chemical additives and our tendency to rely upon pharmaceutical drugs to treat what's wrong with our malnourished bodies, it's no wonder that modern society is getting sicker. Food Matters sets about uncovering the trillion dollar worldwide 'sickness industry' and gives people some scientifically verifiable solutions for overcoming illness naturally.

"With access to better information people invariably make better choices for their health..."

In what promises to be the most contentious idea put forward, the filmmakers have interviewed several leading experts in nutrition and natural healing who claim that not only are we harming our bodies with improper nutrition, but that the right kind of foods, supplements and detoxification can be used to treat chronic illnesses as fatal as terminally diagnosed cancer.

The focus of the film is in helping us rethink the belief systems fed to us by our modern medical and health care establishments. The interviewees point out that not every problem requires costly, major medical attention and reveal many alternative therapies that can be more effective, more economical, less harmful and less invasive than conventional medical treatments.

The ‘Food Matters' duo have independently funded the film from start to finish in order to remain as unbiased as possible, delivering a clear and concise message to the world. Food Matters.

Chiropractic and Blood Pressure-what's the connection?

by Dr. Drew 23. March 2009 06:11

Its amazing to see how Good Morning America finds this shocking.  Chiropractic has known for decades that one of the many benefits of having the nervous system clear is to see the STRESS RESPONSE decrease, therefore blood pressure decrease!
